Evelyn James

Evelyn James is one of the pen names for Sophie Jackson, who has worked as an historian and writer since 2003. Sophie began in the world of traditional publishing before making the move to working in digital publishing in 2014 with her first Clara Fitzgerald book. Her novels about Clara Fitzgerald are inspired by her love of early Twentieth Century history and her fascination with crime stories. The series now contains over 30 books, each featuring the feisty, no-nonsense detective and her friends and family. In 2021, The Gentleman Detective series launched as a separate set of mysteries featuring Colonel Bainbridge and his niece, Victoria Bovington. Set in the late Victorian period Bainbridge and Victoria face different challenges to Clara as they go about solving cases.
