Federica Milella

Federica Milella is a surveyor, CAD designer in particular. Born in 1978 in Empoli (FI), she has always lived in Pisa. 2016 She met a poet to whom she had read a piece of verse in which she described the emotions of her first skin-dive. He liked it and advised her to continue writing. She therefore took part in the "Italo Carretto" poetry competition, obtaining a diploma of merit. 2017 Second participation in "Italo Carretto", coming in Sixth place in the thematic section and Eighth in free theme poetry the following year. 2018 He took part in the sixth and seventh edition of Sevenblog's "FrammentiAvari" competition, placing sixth and seventh respectively. Third step on the podium in the fourth edition of the "Samuel Bertelli" prize of the Freccia d'Oro publishing house, winning the publication of his story "Un lancio fortunato". 2019 In July, with Porto Seguro Editore, he published his first novel with a fantasy-fantasy theme, entitled "Riparatori del tempo", where the letter R also has its own particular value. The unfortunate story of little "Cinghialotto", described in the short story "Autunno in settembre", was included in the eighth anthology of the Arnaldo Giovannetti Prize. She participated as editor and co-author in a Round Robin that gave rise to the short novel "Why are we not made to live forever?" by I già dimenticati, published by Porto Seguro Editore. 2020 January: publication of the poem "Descrizione di un attimo" (Description of a moment), as a meritorious text on the blog "Nobody Reads". In the same month, a nice book of fairy tales written by the author Horion Enky, "L'altro lato dello specchio" (The other side of the mirror), published by Pluriversum Edizioni, comes out in print, illustrated by me. June: Historica Edizioni publishes two anthologies on the theme of "Racconti sportivi 2020" (2020 Sports Stories); the second volume includes my story "Respiro" (Breath), a short story about a skin-dive. October: a new poetry publication in the anthology "Poesie di strada" published by Idrovolante Edizioni, with "Pace utopia" where, living, one never stops fighting. October: First prize in the literary competition organised by Torneo Olympus with "Sociopatia", a horror story with the theme: Halloween. November: Historica Edizioni publishes a new anthology "RuleDesigner Racconti da sogno" (RuleDesigner Dream Tales National Literary Competition), in the second volume my hard/pulp story "Le visioni oniriche di Antonella" (Antonella's dream visions) has been included, in which a sixteen-year-old girl tries to escape from reality by regretting her dream with its soft pink hues, which soon turns into a nightmare dripping with black and red blood. December: Among the top five in the literary competition organised by the Olympus Tournament with "È la magia del Natale" (It's the magic of Christmas), a story full of emotions linked to the theme of family. 2020 In January, her poetic text “Descrizione di un attimo” (Description of the moment) was published as deserving on the blog “Nessuno Legge”. The same month, she collaborated as an illustrator on the fairy tale book written by Horion Enky, titled “L'altro lato dello specchio”, published by Pluriversum Edizioni. In June, Historica Edizioni published two themed anthologies “Racconti sportivi 2020”, and her story “Respiro”, a short story about a free dive, was included in the second volume. In October, she published a new poem in the anthology “Poesie di strada” by Idrovolante Edizioni, titled “Pace utopia” (Peace utopia), reflecting on the continuous struggle for peace while living. She won first prize in the literary competition organized by the Torneo Olympus with the horror story themed Halloween titled “Sociopatia”. In November, Historica Edizioni published a new anthology titled “Concorso letterario nazionale RuleDesigner Racconti da sogno”, and her hard/pulp genre story “Le visioni oniriche di Antonella” was included in the second volume. The story tells of a sixteen-year-old girl who tries to escape reality by taking refuge in a dream with soft pink hues, which soon turns into a dark and bloody nightmare. In December, she was ranked among the top five in the literary competition organized by the Torneo Olympus with the story “È la magia del Natale”, a story full of emotions related to the theme of family. 2021 In April, she ranked 48th in the first volume of “Z di Zombie”, a horror literature competition, with the story “È stato il diavolo, diceva” Her story “Il distruggitore di fiabe” was included in the anthology “Favole e fiabe 2021” by Historica Edizioni. 2022 In November, her story “Scalata al mercato astronavale” was selected for publication in the science fiction-themed anthology “NASF 18”. In December, she published a new story titled “La moneta d'argento” with Historica Edizioni, in the “Racconti liberi” series. 2024 She placed second in the Fredrik Brown Literary Award, winning the publication of her science fiction novel “Serafina tra le ombre del tempo”, published by Ad Astra Edizioni. Additionally, she is passionate about reading and dedicates herself to books, comics, manuals, and trade magazines, primarily in the fields of mathematics, physics, and science fiction. She also appreciates recommended, loaned, or gifted books. A fan of science fiction cinema, she loves films like Interstellar and The Martian, adaptations inspired by Philip K. Dick and Isaac Asimov, as well as TV series like Star Trek, Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica.
