Federico Finchelstein is a world-renowned expert on fascism, populism, and dictatorship and professor of history at the New School for Social Research and Lang College in New York City. His previous books include From Fascism to Populism in History, Fascist Mythologies and A Brief History of Fascist Lies. "I am the author of 8 books on fascism, populism, Dirty Wars and political violence. I have always been interested in these histories. Having lived under a military dictatorship in Argentina as a child, I remember that it would have been too dangerous to ask historical questions to my parents. This is why later I became an historian. If as a child I could not ask this question under dictatorship, myself and many other citizens are asking them now that wannabe fascists occupy the global stage. Like other historians who have dedicated their academic lives to the study of fascism and populism, I always thought that the study of the past could illuminate the present. For the last two decades, my work has aimed to understand the problematic relation between fascism, populism and dictatorship in the past. Now, the question of fascism and power clearly belongs to the present." Professor Finchelstein's books have been translated into Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Hungarian, Korean and Turkish. Finchelstein's books have received 75 reviews in academic journals. He has been a contributor to major American, European, and Latin American newspapers and media, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Clarin (Argentina), El Pais (Spain), Folha de S.Paulo (Brazil), Corriere della Sera (Italy), Politico, Mediapart (France), The Guardian (UK), CNN, Foreign Policy, Reuters, Domani Giornale (Italy).
