Fern Best

“Learning is best done when children are curious, engaged, active, confident, and successful.” Author, playwright, and educator Fern Best has been creating the ideal environment for this by using stories as a medium to bring concepts to life, particularly within the primary education setting. Primary is where Fern spent most of her teaching career in her home country of Barbados, encouraging a love for writing, theatre arts and culture, and fostering their integration into the learning experience. Today, Fern lives with her family in Canada and works in higher education. She recently scripted Annalisa, this play was produced by the John McCrae Primary School in Markham Ontario and was well received by the school community. Annalisa has since been converted into an audiobook. This has reignited Fern’s love of writing and she is now in the process of publishing several pieces of work.
