Florencia De Maio

Florencia De Maio, born in Ramos Mejía, Buenos Aires, Argentina, has resided in Barcelona since 2017. She holds a degree in Dramatic Arts and is a producer and professional coach. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when she was unable to pursue her artistic work, she turned to writing, which led to her first novel, AURELIA. This romance novel is set in Barcelona and allowed her to bring her characters to life. “Written with an open heart, this novel by Florencia De Maio is a sensitive and delicate ode to love, family, and identity, to stories that, though distant in time, form part of who we are.” Throughout 2024, she has been working tirelessly on BAAR, the first Argentine Film Festival in Barcelona, to bring it to its inaugural edition. This festival began as a film club in 2022, with the support of the Argentine Consulate in Barcelona. In 2015, she produced and acted in her first feature film, Oculto el Sol, a project that gave her the opportunity to foster self-management, live in her current city, and encourage future filmmakers to reflect on collaborative work. She is currently writing her second book, which she knows will not be fiction.
