GAIL BRENNER NASTASIA spent much of her life trying to hide her past—she wanted to fit in. To that end, her main goal was to become educated, respected, and admired, a far cry from how she felt as a child and throughout her early adulthood. She succeeded in her educational goals and became an attorney in her early thirties. After practicing criminal law for several years, Gail realized she needed to face her fear of the past. In telling her story, she became free from the shame that had caused her dread for much of her life. This freedom allowed Gail to follow a new path filled with creativity and transparency. She recently earned her MFA from Emerson College. In addition to her family, career, and work in recovery, Gail is working on her second book.
