Gary L. Comstock (1954-) was born in Oak Park and grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Chicago and taught at Iowa State University for twenty years. In 2002 he moved to North Carolina State University to teach philosophy and conduct research on ethical issues in the life sciences. He's married to Karen W. Comstock and they have four children and a granddaughter.
