Born in Dallas, Texas, Gary Robinson is a writer, filmmaker, workshop presenter, and lecturer of Choctaw and Cherokee Indian descent. For 40 years, he participated in the production of more than 100 educational, informational, training and documentary television projects, primarily on Native American topics. His first non-fiction book, From Warriors to Soldiers, was published in 2008 and explored the history of Native American service in the US armed forces. In 2016, he published the first book in his Lands of our Ancestors historical novel series. The series follows three generations of a Chumash Native American family as they face wave upon wave of colonial invasions in California. Before that he helped launch the first series of short fictional books for teens called the Pathfinders series. Published by 7th Generation/Native Voices Books, this series features American Indian teen characters and story lines. Most recently, he wrote the Thunder Child Prophecy young adult series, which features Billy Buckhorn, the grandson of a Cherokee medicine man. He also does educational and group presentations on Native American Military History, California Mission History and Native Contributions to America and the World. He currently lives in southern California near Santa Barbara.
