Gil Ahrens is the author of two books: A Delicate Dance, an historical novel about a German aristocratic family during the tumultuous years surrounding two World Wars Shattered; and Shaken and Stirred, an account of a head-on collision with a drunk driver that left his wife paralyzed, but their three week-old daughter miraculously unscathed. His uncles, Fritz-Dietlof Count von der Schulenburg and Friedrich Werner Count von der Schulenburg, were among the high-ranking German officers who were executed for their central roles in the July 20, 1944 assassination plot against Adolf Hitler. H was born in Suffield, Connecticut and now lives in San Francisco with his wife, daughter and an adorable but ravenous Norwich Terrier. He holds degrees from New York University and Boston University and studied music at the New England Conservatory of Music.
