Gordon Hopkins is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and a graduate of Creighton University. He has worked as a professional insurance investigator and credit card fraud investigator. He has lived in San Francisco, Seattle, Hartford and Phoenix. Now he lives in Jefferson County, Nebraska, where he writes the award-winning column CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC for The Fairbury Journal-News.
