Dr Greg Vinall has spend a lifetime catching and studying fish, both in his professional capacity as a consulting Aquatic Ecologist and in his private life as a passionate lure maker and renowned author on the subject of lure making. Greg's passion for making wooden lures started a when he was a small boy and couldn't afford to buy the lures he saw displayed on the tackleshop walls. In desperation, Greg started turning blocks of scrap lumber into crude and ugly looking imitations of his coveted Rapala and Nilsmasters lures. Greg's fate was sealed when a hapless and suicidal fish made the fatal mistake of swallowing one of his wooden wonders. In that instant Greg knew that is was possible to make lures that caught fish, and there was no looking back! Some 30 years later, Greg makes exquisite custom wooden fishing lures that catch as many fish, or more, than his extensive collection of commercial lures. There's no doubt, Greg is an addict! And after teaching many others to make their own lures over the last 10 years, he's converted plenty of others to this absorbing and productive pastime too!
