Greta Rybus is a full-time freelance photojournalist. She specializes in stories about human connections to the natural world for magazines and newspapers like the New York Times, the Guardian, Travel + Leisure, and National Geographic. Born in Boise, Idaho, she was raised by schoolteachers who taught overseas, she has lived in Japan, the Netherlands, the San Juan Islands, Montana, Seattle, and the Sawtooth Mountains. Greta studied photojournalism and cultural anthropology at the University of Montana. She is based in Maine where she lives with her partner and their dog, Murray.
