Gretchen Gagel

Gretchen’s father telling her she could not attend engineering school because “girls don’t study engineering” not only inspired her to complete a degree in mechanical engineering; it also fueled her passion for supporting the success of other women in our industry. After a successful career as Ralston Purina’s first female operations manager, Gretchen spent three decades advising large owners, contractors, engineering, and architectural firms, helping them solve strategic challenges that improve capital program delivery. Her clients included GM, Intel, Procter & Gamble, Dominion Energy, DPR Construction, and TYLin. Gretchen’s 2021 election to the National Academy of Construction, along with her creation of a successful women’s leadership program in the pipeline and crane industries in Australia, inspired her to devote even more energy to the success of women in the construction industry.
