Harvey Goldstein is a graduate of Quinnipiac University. He has been in the photographic industry for 45 years. Harvey and his brother Alan were the co-owners of Alfa Studio in Middletown, Connecticut from 1973-1995. Harvey was the Executive Manager for the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association and is a Past President of the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association and the Professional Photographers Association of New England. He served on the Council of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) from 1980-2018 and with the Bylaws, Rules and Ethics Committee of PPA for 26 years. Harvey was involved with PPA Charities since its inception in 1998, serving for a number of years as its Vice President. With a strong belief in giving back, Harvey and his family have generated money over the years for a number of worthwhile causes. He was the editor of The Connecticut Spotlight for 32 years as well as the editor for the Professional Photographers Association of New England Newsletter and Convention Book for 19 years. He also served as editor for the American Society of Photographers, the Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts Newsletter and Convention Book and the Maine Professional Photographers Association. He was the editor for LENS magazine published by CPQ Professional Imaging in Cleveland, Tennessee and was a contributing writer for Rangefinder magazine and has been an editor with Amherst Media from Buffalo, New York since 2013. In his spare time, Harvey, a Viet Nam veteran, participates with a veterans’ writers group that has recounted their stories for a book that is scheduled for publishing in the spring of 2019. The book, with stories from all branches of the military from veterans from World War II to the present, will be distributed to middle and high school students. Harvey and his wife, Nancy, reside in Branford, CT.
