Heidi Villegas is a forever teacher. She retired early from her public school teaching career to spend her time teaching through her love of writing after starting her blog, Healing Harvest Homestead (www.healingharvesthomestead.com). Heidi and her husband live on a rural property on less than an acre, completely off grid in the beautiful yet harsh Mojave Desert. They garden, raise poultry of various kinds for both meat and eggs, raise goats for milk, and enjoy riding their horses in the hills of the desert. This midlife couple has an empty nest these days, so the homestead has become their "baby," with all the requisite and constant projects and jobs to do there. Heidi is an herbalist, and has learned how to forage for edible and medicinal plants in the Mojave, as well as grow many of her own herbs. She loves sharing her knowledge of herbal remedies, along with tutorials about her homesteading endeavors, including cooking from scratch, fermenting foods, making soap and other DIY projects, and generally living the most healthy and natural life possible! She loves to write about all their experiences and adventures in order to help and inspire others to start their own homestead journey no matter where they live! City dweller? No problem! Suburbia? Yep, she tells you how to get started there too. Already in a rural place? Keep it going on! Join her at www.HealingHarvestHomestead.com for information about all things homesteading! You can also sign up for her weekly newsletter and get tips and hacks not found on the blog.
