He was accepted at Columbia Law,BUT...because of a #17 draft lottery, he flew jets in the US Air Force instead. While stationed in Japan, Harvey began sculpting in metal. This career soon surpassed his flying in the military and he moved back to Arizona to begin seriously sculpting. Harvey's career progressed quickly and soon he was back in Pennsylvania opening not one, but two sculpture galleries. Here is where the timeline gets complicated... At the same time Harvey's sculpting career was taking off, his writing career began taking hold as well. His first novel, Burnt Bridge Road was optioned for a Hollywood movie. Then Schiffer Publishing approached him with a book deal...to showcase his life as a metal sculptor. That produced two books, A Passion for Metal followed by, A Universe of Metal Sculpture. Harvey has also written Playing on the Black Keys, first in the trilogy about the fictitious town of Carver's Mill, PA. The second is Carver's Mill, and the third is Black Dog Gallery. Harvey wrote Saphos Assassin, a thriller, set in Key West, Florida. He resides at CrossBow, his home in Bucks County, PA with his wife of 40 years, Pamela. His latest Schiffer book, 37 Cents a Fart...and Other Infamous Animal Stories came out in 2012 and doing a nose count, Harvey has a total of fifteen books out with two that are in final stages, due out in the summer of 2013.
