Hilary Grant Dixon

Hilary Grant Dixon is a writer, photographer and award winning creative genius. A curly girl who began her natural hair journey over fourteen years ago, she is as well known for her hair as she is for her honest, thoughtful style of writing on her blog, Hilary With One L. Maggie Sinclair, Will You Please Fix Your Hair?!, her first book, started as way for Hilary to express her grief after the loss of her grandmother in 2012. Whenever they spent time together, her grandmother would consistently ask her when she was going to fix her hair. Hilary would reply, "Gram! It looks just like yours", to which her grandmother would say, as she fluffed up her own silvery curls, "And I'm a good looking woman!" From these recollections, Hilary teased out a story about a little girl and her grandmother, learning how to love themselves, just as they are. Self-love is a lesson crucial to the development of a growing child, and Hilary wants to share that message not only with her own daughters, but with children everywhere. Hilary currently lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and three curly girlies. She is ecstatic to introduce Maggie to the world!
