Holly Genzen

关于作者

Having inherited "the Wanderlust gene," Holly Genzen is happiest exploring the out-of-doors. Her canoeing and kayaking adventures have taken her from the West Branch of the Penobscot River in Maine to the mangrove tunnels of the Everglades and the lagoon surrounding Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park. Closer to home, she explores the rivers, lakes, springs, and coastal waterways of Central Florida in her kayak or solo canoe. She also enjoys hiking and backpacking and has thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, describing the 5-month journey as "my most physically and mentally challenging adventure." Holly has a particular affection for the National Parks. As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., she made frequent visits to Shenandoah National Park and has had the privilege of returning to Shenandoah to volunteer as a caretaker living at Herbert Hoover's summer residence at Rapidan Camp. A Florida Master Naturalist, Holly has graduate degrees in Outdoor Education and Educational Administration. In addition to writing about and exploring the out-of-doors, Holly is an artist, currently working in oils. She keeps a sketchbook journal and twice participated in the Sketchbook Project. A sample of her work can been seen at https://www.sketchbookproject.com/library/11838. Recently, Holly has expanded her connection to the out of doors by exploring the beauty of the night sky and by learning the constellations. She says, "Take your binoculars out on a dark night and you will be awestruck by the number and brilliance of the stars."
