Ian Inglis was born in Leek, Staffordshire. After leaving school, he worked as a journalist in Stoke-on-Trent, before going on to study Sociology in Newcastle and Leicester, and pursue an academic career. As Reader in Sociology and Visiting Fellow at Northumbria University, he has written seven books and more than sixty journal articles on topics around popular culture. He has a particular interest in the music and career of the Beatles. He is also a writer of fiction, and his short stories have been published in numerous anthologies and literary magazines in the UK and US.
