Ian Neil was brought up in Kibirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland where he started life as a Laboratory Technician with British Steel. At 19 yrs of age he joined the British Army Medical Corps where he served for 22 years and reached the rank of Sergeant Major. When he retired from the Army he worked as a Microsoft Certified Trainer teaching everything from desktops to server products to high end corporate customers. Ian has been involved in the last 6 years delivering CompTIA Security+ to the US Forces based in Europe where he developed a 10 day course that has a high pass rate. In his spare time Ian can be seen near a rugby field where he played for over 30 years, but at 26 years old he became first of all a player/coach and then coached sides ranging from mini-junior through to senior sides where he has a good win/loss ratio of over 80%. Three years ago he became a spectator. Ian was a half-marathon runner before retiring through rugby injuries. Ian, both in the commercial and sporting field is a good communicator and has the ability to break down information and tasks in manageable chunks so that it understood and hopefully in his books his readership will be able to fully understand the technology and become certified at the first attempt. You will find in Ian's books that the most difficult topics will be easy to understand
