Insp Michael P. Cooney (Ret.)

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Charlie Company 1/509 Airborne Brigade, Michael was hired by the Philly PD and began his career as a covert intelligence operator. Thirty-three years later, after assignments in the Patrol, Detective, Internal Affairs, Training and Administration Bureaus, and as Special Assistant to the Police Commissioner, he retired as Acting Chief Inspector, Education and Training Bureau. He also served on the PA State Municipal Police Officers Training and Education Commission as Commissioner and Director. Michael holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from Temple University. After retirement, he accepted positions as Manager of Public Services Training at Montgomery County Community College, Campus Manager at CHI Institute, and Criminal Justice Instructor. He also volunteered as Constitutional Law Instructor at the Philadelphia Police Academy. Trojan Horse 4 was the first Mickey Devlin novel.
