Plot twists and passion. In our search for meaning and happiness within our lives, we often look in all the wrong places. Putting our trust and confidence in the hearts of people we hope will help us along the journey. Some good, some bad, we navigate the undulations of life in our constant quest for truth and fulfilment. It’s easy to mask the damage caused by parents and ex’s. Live within the smokescreens of our unhappiness and hide from the truth. We long to escape, we long to love, and we deserve to thrive. Romance, all-encompassing love, sensual, ultimate connections, world beating solidarity, and respect; are what keep our hearts beating and our spirits alive. I write from the heart. No preconceptions, no tropes, no formulas. Just unadulterated freedom of expression that personally, I had disallowed for most of my life. Now, I allow my characters to explore the vast possibilities of life and love. To make mistakes but also celebrate our male and female differences, through strengths and weaknesses, hopes and fears, passion and adventure. Empowerment and growth while facing tough adversity is my mantra. Changing and adapting as we learn and grow, we can be grateful for our experiences and excited by our potential. It is out there for all of us. We just have to be free with our thoughts and open with our hearts. Writing female protagonists, allows for deep exploration of our emotions, to explore our vulnerabilities, challenge conditioning and expectations, and set ourselves free. I had never read a book before writing my first novel at the age of 50. My undiagnosed dyslexia, a prison with seemingly no escape. I was shocked to feel the sheer exhilarating excitement within my core, when I woke with words flowing from my subconscious like torrential rain. Rhyming, playfully dancing provocatively and bursting to come out of me. My subconscious, now the ultimate filing cabinet of my life. Love, loss, optimism, devastation, romance, determination were all there and…words. The very thing I had been scared of all my life’s now the key to unlock the door of captivity. I write for my own freedom, but also for the liberation of others who may feel different, marginalised, worthless or in need of change. Empowerment is ours for the taking, we just have grasp it and hold on tight for the ride.
