Born in northern Spain in 1996 and raised in Madrid, J Bela's journey led him to the UK at the age of 15. With roots tracing back to Equatorial Guinea, his diverse heritage enriches both his life and his writing. Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, J Bela pursued his passion for knowledge, graduating from the University of Leicester with a BEng in Aerospace Engineering. Currently, he shares his expertise as a Mathematics teacher at a secondary school in South London. Inspired by his fascination with Black and African history during his later years of secondary school, J Bela embarked on a mission to reshape the landscape of epic fantasy and medieval fiction. Recognizing the underrepresentation of African narratives, he set out to craft a compelling story set in 14th century West Africa. Over the span of a decade, J Bela dedicated himself to meticulous research and development, aiming to create a body of work that is not only engaging but also historically accurate. His debut novel, "Griots Tell No Lies," marks the beginning of a trilogy that delves into the rich tapestry of African history. Beyond storytelling, J Bela harbours a deep-seated desire to leverage his craft to educate and inspire. Through his work, he endeavours to shed light on the vibrant heritage he holds dear. While "Griots Tell No Lies" is a testament to his literary prowess, J Bela's ambitions extend beyond the written word. With aspirations to transition into filmmaking, he envisions bringing a myriad of inspirational stories to the silver screen, further enriching the cultural landscape for generations to come.
