J. Rocky Colavito has been teaching a variety of college level classes since the Fall of 1982, but is now in a phase known as sunsetting as he transitions toward getting out of the classroom and into a life devoted to the pleasures of crafting horror. He has a BA and an MA from St. Bonaventure University and a PhD from the University of Arizona. He calls himself "one of the last of the generalists" because his career has offered him the opportunity to teach everything from first-year writing to graduate seminars on rhetorical theory. He's reinvented himself as an academic three times, moving from film studies, to cultural studies, to his last reinvention, horror writing. His horror inspirations run the gamut from Kaiju films to the newly resurrected splatterpunk movement. His writing meshes his academic interests with horror tropes and settings, drawing upon professional wrestling, the giallo, tattoo artistry, food, creature features, the pornographic film industry, and cryptozoology as inspirations for horror pieces in all lengths and shapes. And, yes, he's the one they warned you about!
