I'm a Scottish historian and historical linguist who loves recovering women's experiences in the medieval and early modern past. I'm an expert on women's correspondence and on letter-writing practices, and I enjoy nothing better than spending hours in the archives hunting down manuscript letters. I have to admit to having a bit of a soft spot for the 16th century - if I ever had the chance to be transported back in time, I'd pick the 1570s! There's just so many amazing women to meet then, but until time-travel is up and running, I'll keep trying my best to get to know them through the archives. I graduated from the University of Glasgow with a First Class MA in French in 2012, and was awarded an MLitt with Distinction in Medieval and Renaissance Studies there in 2013. I was awarded Arts and Humanities Research Council UK (AHRC) funding to pursue my PhD research at Glasgow, graduating in 2017. When I'm not hiding away in the 16th century, I'm usually out exploring the gorgeous landscapes of Scotland with my husband and our two St. Bernards, Archer and Winne. I ride horses and am on the lookout for a sassy Highland Pony. I'm also a very amateur crafter: embroidery, painting, pottery making, flower arranging, I love it all.
