Jaihoon Nawzadi, MD, is an emergency medicine resident at the University of Virginia and a first-generation immigrant from Afghanistan. Moving to the U.S. at age 7, he grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and later Northern Virginia. His upbringing gave him a unique perspective on the challenges of immigrant life.
