Jakerria Seals, only 26 at the time of this writing, is from Jackson, Mississippi. She is the oldest of 10 kids, 7 from her mother’s side and 3 from her father’s side. Whilst growing up, Jakerria was placed in “gifted” and Advanced Placement classes, allowing her natural gift of intelligence to be nurtured, which is what she believes, the main thing a child needs to succeed in the education system, no matter the child’s background. Kids will do the rest. Shortly after graduation, she enlisted in the US Navy where she spent 5 years, traveling Europe and Africa on a Naval warship as an Information Technician, IT for short. The time she spent away was crucial to expanding her mind outside of the confines of where she grew up. After completing her enlistment honorably, she went back into the workforce, this time as a civilian, working for notable tech companies such as Microsoft, Pure Storage, and other private government entities. In today’s time, she is now a Cyber Security Engineer, specializing in Cloud Infrastructures after 8 years in the field. Her natural talent for learning has allowed her to teach her peers and others along the way. A first time writer, PC is Sick, is her first children’s book and is a part of a series. She aspires to let every inner city kid, there is a way out. There is a path for you that does not have to be attached to a ball or microphone if you don’t wan’t. “Do the thing that no one else does better than you, even when you’re not even trying”, she says.
