James McNamara

Jim McNamara is a Professor of Hydrology in the Department of Geosciences at Boise State University, where he and his family have enjoyed the rivers and mountains of the western landscape since 1997. His research focuses on hydrologic processes in snowy systems and their relationship to climate, as well as broader water resource sustainability. Over his career, he has authored or co-authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and has led multiple research initiatives. Beyond academia, he has written for popular magazines such as Canoe Magazine, Boy’s Life, The Conservationist, and Michigan Natural Resources.
