James Richardson is a poet and aphorist and a Professor of Creative Writing at Princeton University, where he taught for over 40 years.. His most recent book is For Now (2020) from Copper Canyon Press. As If, a 1992 National Poetry Series winner will be re-printed by Carnegie Mellon University Press in its Classic Contemporaries series In October of 2023.. Richardson’s other collections of poems, aphorisms and ten-second essays include During, winner of the Poetry Society of America’s Alice Fay Castagnola Prize; By the Numbers, which was a National Book Award finalist and a Publishers Weekly "Best Book of 2010"; Interglacial, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and Vectors.
