JAN EVAN WHITFORD originally hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico. After active duty in the Marine Corps Reserve, he got his B.A. at UNM and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he worked as a cartographer for the Defense Mapping Agency for over twenty years. It was there that he and his wife, Barbara, raised their five sons: John, Joe, Jeff, Todd, and Troy. Mr. Whitford now writes fiction and has been an Allbooks reviewer for over four years now. He also spent three years writing a humor column and reviewing books for The Jamestown Journal. In addition, his humor pieces and short stories have been published in several other magazines and newspapers. Look for Jan’s second novel, Mystic Fear, to be released in early 2012. Next in his popular Nikki O’Connor series, Mystic Fear follows on the heels of Mystic Island, released in 2005 to rave reviews. For example, well-known mystery writer J.A. Konrath had this to say about it: “Whitford cleverly combines mystery, romance, action, and adventure, with an old-fashioned dollop of sex and violence. Mystic Island is filled with characters so real they leap off the page, a corker of a plot involving long buried secrets, murderous cover-ups and one helluva hurricane. Put this on your must-read list.” Jan and his wife split their time between New England and the Florida panhandle, where he’s a member of the Emerald Coast Writers.
