Jana Dambrogio loves preserving artifacts. While working as a conservator in an ancient archive, she rediscovered a technique she coined, "letterlocking." This method includes folding and sealing letters, a practice common for centuries. Over the years, she modeled thousands of letters, and with her co-author Daniel Starza Smith, assembled the Unlocking History Research Group. The team focuses on developing this new field by creating resources to reveal the concealed. One of the team's favorite revelations is that anyone can enjoy letterlocking. Whether folding up a note for someone you love or exploring the folding patterns of renowned figures like Bearden, Beethoven, Dickinson, Wheatley, or Donne, this practice invites participation. The allure extends to historical figures like Elizabeth I and numerous people whose undelivered messages remain unopened in the Brienne Collection.
