Janice Sugguiyao Shiu PhD

Janice proudly embraces her mixed cultural heritage and identifies herself with the Kalinga indigenous peoples of the Philippines. She spent her formative years in several locations across the Philippines, including Kalinga province, Baguio City, Quezon City, and Metro Manila before eventually relocating to the United States of America. With decades of experience teaching college students in the United States of America, she is channeling her efforts towards conserving Philippine folklores from the Kalinga Indigenous Peoples, transforming tales traditionally narrated by elders in Kalinga villages into printed children's storybooks. Outside of her professional pursuits, she finds joy in the company of her two dogs and indulges her passion for traveling the world with her husband. Janice is currently based in California, USA.
