Janice Tucker Rhoda is author of the ABCs of Strings and Complete Technique series published by Carl Fischer. She designed her method to encourage students of all ages to play Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. She studied Violin in the preparatory and college divisions of New England Conservatory with pedagogue Eric Rosenblith, protégé of Carl Flesch. At age 16, she played a Brahms Sonata on a popular TV show, and became concertmistress of Massachusetts All-State Orchestra after auditioning playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. At age 19, her Italian violin was hit out of her hand by a car; it sailed through the air and crashed to the ground! She grew up in a family of 5 children and 35 first cousins. www.abcsofstrings.com
