Janine Vance started her writing career in 1997 with the writing of her first two internationally award-winning memoirs: "Twins Found in a Box: Adapting to Adoption," which explores her adoptive father's recovery after a traumatic brain injury in 1984 and the impact it had on the family, and "The Search for Mother Missing: A Peek Inside International Adoption," a short two-week adventure book that delves into her journey to South Korea with her twin (known as the "Vance Twins") for the first time in 2004 in search of their Korean family. Janine has also ghostwritten several feature-length screenplays, website content, and books focused on the rights of adopted people. Since 2003, Vance has been interviewed from Seattle to Seoul and featured in newspapers, magazines, on television and radio, including BBC Radio, Delphi International, Huffington Post, Dong-A Ilbo, Chosun, Brainz Magazine, Northwest Asian Weekly, and Northwest Afternoon. In 2014, the Vance Twins curated "Adoptionland: From Orphans to Activists" and "The Unknown Culture Club: Korean Adoptees, Then and Now." In 2011, they established Adoption Truth and Transparency Worldwide Information Network, the largest adoptee-led watchdog forum on social media. The twins produced a pioneering Adoption Trafficking Awareness Symposium in 2022 for Against Child Trafficking (ACT) USA. Janine has also spoken at various events and conferences about her adoption experience. She is currently developing educational materials in the effort to protect local and global families from the crisis of adoption trafficking.
