Jay P. Harmon

Jay Harmon teaches AP World History: Modern at Houston Christian High School. With over a quarter-century of experience in the AP History classroom, he is a leading voice in the AP community. Intimately familiar with the AP World History exam, he is a former member of the World History Exam Development Committee. Having been among the exam’s original essay readers and a longtime College Board AP consultant, Harmon is a popular AP workshop host in the United States and abroad. Harmon has served as a teacher trainer for the College Board in both AP European History and AP World History. In 2016 Harmon was invited to tour South Korea by the Academy of Korean Studies, joining with AP World History gurus Patrick Whelan and Barbara Ozuna to offer insights into the AP program. In 2019, he was invited back to South Korea by the Academy of Korean Studies to mark the 15th anniversary of the Understanding Korea Project.
