Jean-Jacques Jura received his Ph.D. in French literature from the University of California at Irvine, having taught interdisciplinary courses, including French language, culture, and literature, as well as English composition, comparative literature, and art history. Retired since 2013, he is an Associate Professor Emeritus from California State University, Long Beach, having published several articles on French literature, co-authored the book, Balboa Films, reprinted in 2007, on the silent movie studios of Long Beach, California, and translated the medieval French romance, Aucassin & Nicolette, first published by Edwin Mellen Press in 2007, published online by Zeitschrift für romanische Philologie in 2009. In 2016, Dr. Jura self-published in French an historical novel entitled Lanz et Gwenhevre: Amour à contre-courant, using the pseudonym Jehan d’Elley. In 2017 a translation followed, Lanz & Gwenhevre: Love Against the Tide. Awards for Lanz & Gwenhevre 1) 2018: among 12 semi-finalists as emerging new talent of Historical Fiction in The CHAUCER Book Awards. 2) 2019: Bronze Medal for Multicultural Fiction by The eLit Awards.
