Jennifer O’Connell is the award-winning author and illustrator of the New York Times bestseller Ten Timid Ghosts, which has sold more than one million copies to date. Her recent title, Elephants Remember tells the true story of how South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony saved a traumatized herd of wild elephants when, against all odds, he earned the trust of the matriarch of the herd. And she remembered him. Kirkus called it, “An excellent story, well told. You’ll remember it always." Booklist's starred review stated: "Her touching story awakens a sense of wonder about elephants as well as curiosity about how they experience the world." Jennifer’s picture book The Eye of the Whale – A Rescue Story received the 2014 Green Earth Book Award, the Moonbeam Gold Award, and was on RIF’s STEAM Multicultural Booklist. She is also the writer and illustrator of Ten Timid Ghosts on a Christmas Night, the illustrator of A Garden of Whales, and the author of It’s Halloween Night! and Harvest Party! Jennifer earned her BFA degree in Illustration from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Using primarily acrylics on Strathmore Bristol paper for her book illustrations, she also enjoys oils, watercolors, colored pencils, and Procreate.
