Jessica Freedman, M.D., is chair of MedEdits Medical Admissions (www.mededits.com), a medical education advising and editing company for applicants to medical school, residency, and fellowship. She has helped hundreds of applicants gain admission to competitive medical programs. Her foundational understanding of admissions, along with her more than 10 years of experience privately advising applicants, has made her a valuable resource for medical school applicants. Before founding MedEdits, Dr. Freedman was on the medical school faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai School where she served as the associate residency director and on the medical school admissions committee. She was also a leader in medical education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. As an educator at Icahn, Dr. Freedman was consistently rated as a top faculty member by the medical students and residents and received awards for her mentorship. Dr. Freedman has served on multiple national committees related to medical education, including the National Council of Residency Directors. Dr. Freedman, an emergency physician, has also published numerous journal articles and textbook chapters, including several in Rosen & Barkin's 5-Minute Emergency Medicine Consult and on eMedicine.com. Dr. Freedman's biography has been included in Marquis Who's Who in America based on her achievements since 2010. Dr. Freedman currently serves on the advisory committee for Medscape MedStudents and is also the author of many articles in US News and World Report and on the StudentDoctor Network. Her current area of academic interest is medical education and the human factors that influence a student's experience.
