Jill Claster is Professor Emerita of Medieval History at New York University. She continues to teach and regularly teaches her course on the Crusades and their Legacy. Professor Claster received her PhD. in Medieval History from the University of Pennsylvania, and before coming to NYU taught at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. At New York University Professor Claster served as dean of the College of Arts and Science, and subsequently as director of the Hagop Kevorkian Center of Near Eastern Studies. She has also taught a semester-long course on the History of the Middle Ages for the CBS/TV program, Sunrise Semester, done in conjunction with NYU, and has appeared on several tv discussion programs relating to the crusades and their relevance to today's world. Her other major work on the Middle Ages is The Medieval Experience: 300-1300. New York: New York University Press, 1982.
