I am an Irish artist and writer, living and working in Ireland. I live on the beach in Howth, just outside Dublin and paint, walk, draw and cycle every day. You know at least one of my images, the iconic Che Poster image, yeah the one you see on t-shirts, walls, albums covers, that all came from my original image. Last year it was rated as one of the 10 most iconic images in the history of art.* I have written and illustrated four books of my work, 'Celtia', 'The Book of Conquests', 'The Silver Arm' and 'Erinsaga', all of which tell of the ancient Irish myths and legends. I started my Celtic art at a time when there was no known market for Celtic art and no one was doing it. My passion for Celtic art came from my own studies of ancient Irish history and mythology at a time when unfortunately so much of this proud history was being destroyed and forgotten. But with inspiration from ‘The Book Of Kells’, our Irish heritage and the great masters before me I developed my own distinct style, which in turn has become one of the foundations of the Celtic art movement. My work has been shown all over the world for example the Tate Gallery London, The Whitney Museum, New York, The Kunsthalle, Vienna and many others. *Emeritas Professor of History of Art, Martin Kemp of Oxford University, in his book: 'From 'Christ to Coke' has my Che Poster image at number 6. Mona Lisa is at number 5. Good company to keep for a working artist.
