Jim Jacquet

Hi! I'm Jim Jacquet, author of COLLECTING BANJOS, COLLECTING MORE BANJOS, and EVEN MORE BANJOS. I've been playing Old Timey music on antique banjos for over 40 years now. I started out playing folk music on the guitar, but quickly got interested in banjos, banjo history, and collecting the oldest banjos I could find. I believe Roots music and American history are strongly intertwined. Traditional music was played by black slaves, Civil War soldiers, rural settlers, and Gold Rush miners all through the 19th Century. The banjo has been called America's instrument for good reason: Ethnic, Folk, Country, Old Time, and Bluegrass musicians have made, and continue to make, this music our own.
