I am a retired Certified Financial Planner with degrees in business and journalism from the University of Maryland. Though I was immersed professionally in the business world, I found time during my thirty-year career to follow my passion for writing. I have over three hundred published articles to my credit, which have appeared in numerous local and national periodicals—from an article on childhood learning disabilities in ADDitude magazine to editorials in the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune. In addition, my award-winning monthly column, Managing Money, appeared for five years in two national magazines (Advisor Today and Retirement Life) until my retirement. I have always been an American history buff, but I didn't develop my keen interest in genealogy until I discovered my ancestors came to America in 1733. This led me through a years-long journey of uncovering letters, journals, documents, and photos, all of which culminated in the writing of my historical memoir, The Pursuit.
