Jo McGinley is a sought-after coach for building highly effective individual and team communicators. She inspires seasoned corporate executives and emerging business and nonprofit leaders to find their authentic voices and connect with listeners in every conversation. With over 30 years of experience, Jo combines theatrical training, the best current brain research, improvisational exercises, and voice and speech coaching to create a unique and powerful experience for every client. Each lesson or workshop is tailored for the individual to help each person become a more confident and effective communicator. Jo has coached Peak Performers, including Olympic Athletes and their coaches, musicians, Oscar Nominees, and leaders in healthcare, tech, and financial services to improve performance and increase communication confidence. Jo has also been a guest instructor in the Grad Programs at Princeton University, the USF School of Business, and the Harvard Innovation Lab (iLab). In addition, she is a speaking coach for data science teams, engineers, marketers, R&D, and architects, helping them better communicate the stories that will launch their early products into the market. Jo is considered an innovator of narrative improvisation. Her book “Going Long” will be published by Rowman and Littlefield Publishing Group, Inc., in November 2024. She has developed and mentored this art form worldwide. Her most well-known narrative improv shows have been Twilight Zone Unscripted, Dorothy Parker UnScripted, Nancy Drew UnSolved, the long-running improvised Soap Operas, Avalon Terrace, and Hope Falls. Her three-camera, live-streamed improvised Twilight Zone episodes, The Portal: An Improvised Journey Into The Unknown, created sixty unscripted episodes in the style of the original series. Other beloved styles and playwrights are William Inge, Passion Noir, Quirky English Comedy, Buddy Action, Improvised Cabaret, and more.
