JoAnn Dotson lives in Sandersville, Georgia with her husband Benjamin. JoAnn has a host of God-children, nieces and nephews that she has shared her life with throughout their years of growth. JoAnn is a retired educator who taught for 32 years in elementary grades including kindergarten, first and second grades throughout her teaching career in both private and public schools. She has always loved writing from an early age therefore, teaching children how to write in school became her passion as she taught the entire second grade writing in a writing curriculum at Ridge Road Primary School before she retired. JoAnn was also on the school's publishing committee called Spilled Ink whereby the Washington County School System published student stories and student illustrators in the School's Spilled Ink Book Project. Each year the school would celebrate these students exemplary stories and illustrations at the Washington County School System annual Author's Tea. She has won several awards during her teaching career such as Ridge Road Primary Teacher of the Year, Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year, Washington County Branch of the NAACP Teacher of the Year, as well as 13 WMAZ TV Station My Teacher is Tops Award. She graduated from Morris Brown College with a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education and also graduated with a Psychology and Counseling Degree from Troy State University. Mrs. Dotson has also taken Doctorate classes before her retirement. Since her retirement, publishing her full notebook of children stories, poems and other creative ventures is at the top of her list.
