Joanne Lannin

I am a former newspaper reporter with 20+ years experience covering sports and writing feature stories for the Maine Sunday Telegram. I was the first female sports reporter at the Telegram, where I profiled dozens of athletes and newsmakers, including the Boston Celtics' Red Auerbach, Rick Carlisle, Joan Benoit Samuelson, and Travis Roy. I am a member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and the Association for Women in Sports Media. I have written four books about women in sports. My most recent book, Who Let Them In: Pathbreaking Women in Sports Journalism, will be published by Rowman and Littlefield in June, 2022. My third book, Finding A Way To Play, was a Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards Winner, earning a silver medal, and a second place winner in the Independent Publishers of New England annual contest.
