Joe Cobb lives in Roanoke, Virginia where he serves as a member of the Roanoke City Council and as a clergy with the Metropolitan Community Churches. Joe is currently the Chaplain at Hermitage Roanoke, a senior living community. A native of Kansas, Joe earned a BA in Philosophy from Southwestern College in his home state and a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Raised in the United Methodist Church, Joe was called into ministry in 1981, and was ordained as a deacon in 1985, an elder in 1991 and served for 20 years in parish ministry. Five years after coming out, Joe was ordained in the Metropolitan Community Church in 2006. A creative spirit, Joe also enjoys writing and singing. Joe's family includes husband, James, and their four children Emma (Connor)Gwin, Taylor Cobb, Ginny and JJ Matthews. They also have two grandchildren, Harper Jane and Will Gwin.
