John Davies CEng is a chartered engineer with twenty years’ experience in the energy sector. His career has taken him from the black of fossil fuels, working in oil refineries, and becoming a coal power station manager at age twenty-eight, through to the green of renewables, working in solar since 2012 and launching his own climate change engineering business, 2DegreesKelvin, in 2019. Having been involved in every stage of the large-scale solar PV project life cycle, including development, design, construction, commissioning, O&M, and, more recently, providing advanced engineering solutions to assess, test, improve and optimise solar systems, John is an industry authority and thought leader. He specialises in fleet and asset condition assessment and the latest and greatest technological advancements in the sector to extend solar asset life. John is passionate about global warming and climate change mitigation and maximising solar PV’s potential in our shared battle against the ‘old-guard’ fossil fuel corporations and short-sighted regimes around the world. John is an avid single figure golfer who loves to visit the world’s best golf courses. He successfully competed in the 2018 Ironman Wales event, where he finished his 3,800 m swim, 180 km bike and 42 km run in 13 hours and 35 minutes. He lives with his wife and life partner, Sara, in Cardiff, Wales. They have two children, Felix and Florence, who make him extremely proud to be their dad, and a dachshund, Dash. The family love nothing more than film nights at home with a kebab; sun, sea and surf; and travelling around France in their caravan.
