Hey, y'all -- glad you stopped by. I'm quite honored and thrilled to have my work appearing here on Amazon; I've been fascinated by words my whole life. I love to read them, write them, and say them (just ask any member of my family!) In the South, we always ask a person, "So, where are you from?" That doesn't always mean "where do you live now" -- it means where are you FROM. Where did you grow up? Who are your people and such. I am FROM the small town of Martin, Tennessee. It was a great place to grow up, and I owe so much of who I am today to the friends and extended family that surrounded me for the first 20 years or so of my life. At age 21, I was married to my wife, Sheila, and we were on the way to a nomadic existence in Baptist church ministry that I could never have imagined. We have lived in Tennessee (3 times), Texas (twice), Kentucky, Alabama, Michigan, and Florida. That's a lot of traveling for a country boy! Our three children -- William, Christopher, and Kayla -- endured that lifestyle mostly joyfully and have all grown into fine adults on their own. Some day, I will write the story of what they all mean to me. It's a classic! I am a lifelong fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers in all things athletic and otherwise; I am grateful for the public education I received in my home state, all the way through the collegiate level. I am also happy that I have been privileged to study in some great schools: Vanderbilt University and Princeton Seminary. Colleagues and friends at every level have added to the richness of my life. It's hard to separate my existence from God and the life of the church; it seems like that is always what I have done. Now approaching 40 years in "professional" ministry, I am awed and amazed at all that I have experienced with people. They (people) are endlessly fascinating. My interests are wide -- I read everything I can get my hands (and, of late, my iPad screen) on. I look forward to writing in several genres over the next few years. I am always happy to hear from readers, so don't be afraid to zip me an email. Again, thanks for stopping by. And keep reading!
