John Manuel

关于作者

After living on Rhodes for 14 years, John Manuel relocated in 2019 to a small corner of south-eastern Crete. He'd married a half-Greek girl in the UK when he was a young man. Since moving to Greece he's written six amusing memoir books about his Greek experience, plus a growing number of novels, all with a decidedly Greek flavour. There is very little of the country of Greece that John Manuel hasn't visited. Regarding his "memoir" books he says: "Don't read them expecting a thriller, a storyline, a novel or a moral. Read them to perhaps have a chuckle, or a brief virtual visit to all sorts of places in Greece." The most recent non-fiction book from John is "Moving Islands", a look back at the complicated process involved in moving house from one Greek island to another. John's latest work of fiction is "The Lone Refugee," a novel aimed at helping people to perhaps adjust their view of the major refugee crisis of recent times. As his readers have come to expect, there is a twist or two in the story, one of which hits the reader in the last few lines of the narrative. He also runs a reading group on Facebook called "A Good Greek Read" for people who love to read about things Greek. Follow John's regular life in a small village in southern Crete on his blog "Accretions."
