John S. Poitier is an 18-year-old published author from Freeport, Grand Bahama, in the Bahamas. He is an avid reader, writer, and debater. He is a firm advocate for social equality. John has high aspirations of pursuing a course of studies that would eventually have him realize his dream of becoming a general surgeon. In his book Mangoes in the Summertime, John shares his views of humanity through a colorful collection of inspirational poetry. In his second book, The Birds, he speaks of the duality of oppression and hope. In his free time, John enjoys listening to music, playing video games, traveling, and attending Family Bible Study.
